About Growth Mindset

What is Growth Mindset?

A growth mindset comes from the belief that your abilities and intelligence are things that can develop and grow with effort.

A person who has a growth mindset thrives on challenge and sees failure not as evidence of unintelligence, but as a springboard for growth and for stretching their own abilities.

People who have a Growth Mindset

  • Embrace challenges
  • Persist in adversity
  • See that effort lead to mastery
  • Learn from criticism
  • Find inspiration in the success of others

 The Importance of Growth Mindset?

According to Dweck’s research, people who have a growth mindset reach much higher levels of achievement and success.

 What is a Fixed Mindset?

A fixed mindset comes from the belief that your qualities and abilities are a static given and cannot be developed in any real meaningful way.

A person who has a fixed mindset spends time documenting their intelligence or talent instead of developing them.  They think that talent is all they need to create success and that effort won’t make a big difference.

People who have a Fixed Mindset

  • Avoid challenges
  • Give up easily
  • See effort as useless
  • Ignore constructive criticism
  • Feel threaten by the success of others
